How do I Unsubscribe from your app?

In the App, navigate to Menu and select Subscription. Here you will be provided information on your subscription.

iOS: Open your phone's Settings, select your Apple ID and finally select Subscriptions. Here you will find a list of all your active subscriptions. By selecting a subscription, you will be given the opportunity to change it as needed.

Android: Open your Google Play Store app, at the top right, tap the profile icon and then select Payments & subscriptions. By selecting a subscription, you will be given the opportunity to change that subscription as needed.

How do I get a NHLS account?

Directly from your local NHLS Laboratory.

Alternatively you can send an email to the NHLS IT desk at, helpdesk@nhls.ac.za and request their help with setting up your NHLS credentials.

How do I Reset my NHLS password?

The NHLS resets passwords once a month. Please make sure you have updated your credentials. Up-to-date credentials are essential for the Scanner to work properly.

Does ZA Scripts create valid medical prescriptions?

ZA Scripts is a formatting tool that helps South African doctors quickly generate professional prescription PDFs. While the app is designed around South African prescribing requirements — including HPCSA registration, practice number, and medical aid fields — prescribing laws and compliance remain the responsibility of the issuing doctor. If required, you can print and stamp the script or email it directly to a pharmacy.

Why do I need to fill in my professional details?

Your name, qualifications, HPCSA registration number, practice details, and digital signature are stored on your device and automatically included on every document you generate. This keeps your prescriptions and sick notes professionally formatted and compliant without having to re-enter your information each time.

Do I need to complete my patient's details?

ZA Scripts maintains a local patient list with demographics, contact details, medical aid information, and allergy notes. While a patient name is required to generate a document, all other fields are optional — fill in what works for your practice.

Will ZA Scripts tell me what to prescribe?

No. ZA Scripts is a formatting tool for doctors. It provides a medication list to speed up entry, but does not recommend medications, verify dosing, or check interactions. Clinical decisions remain entirely the responsibility of the prescribing doctor.

Will my prescriptions and sick notes be saved?

Yes. All prescriptions and sick notes are saved to your device and accessible from the patient's document history. This makes repeat prescriptions and follow-up sick notes significantly faster.

How do I know a prescription is authentic?

Every document generated by ZA Scripts includes:

Your doctor profile details and HPCSA registration number
Your hand-drawn digital signature
A unique QR code that pharmacies can scan to confirm the script is valid and has not been revoked

You can also revoke a script at any time if it was issued in error — once revoked, any QR scan will reflect the updated status. For additional security, consider emailing the script directly to the dispensing pharmacy.

What is a template?

A template is a saved prescription you can reuse with a single tap. Build a library of your most common medication combinations — for example, a standard antibiotic course or a chronic medication list — and apply it to any patient instantly. Templates can be edited at any time.

Can I issue sick notes through the app?

Yes. ZA Scripts generates signed sick notes as PDFs, including a date range, optional diagnosis, and automatic duration calculation. Sick notes include your signature and QR code and are ready to share immediately.

How do I share or print a document?

Once a document is generated you can share it via WhatsApp, email, AirDrop, or any app on your device. You can also print directly from your phone using AirPrint or any connected printer, or view the PDF in the built-in viewer.

Do I need to be a registered doctor to use ZA Scripts?

ZA Scripts is a formatting tool that any user can install, but only registered South African doctors or authorised medical practitioners can issue legal prescriptions. It is a criminal offence to falsify a medical prescription or impersonate a doctor.

Is my data backed up?

Yes. ZA Scripts supports cloud backup to sync your profile and templates across devices. Your data is tied to your account and kept private. Patient records and documents are stored locally on your device.
